Quick answer
Wenzel's Automotive in Winthrop Harbor repairs engines on cars, SUVs and light trucks: oil and coolant leaks, gaskets and seals, timing belts and chains, water pumps and cooling systems, and misfires. We diagnose the cause first, then give you a clear estimate before any work. Call (847) 872-1111.
What is included
- Oil and coolant leak repair
- Valve cover, oil pan and head gasket repair
- Timing belt and timing chain service
- Water pump, thermostat and radiator repair
- Belt and hose replacement
- Misfire, compression and leak-down testing

Signs you need it
- Oil spots under the car
- The temperature gauge climbs or the engine overheats
- A sweet coolant smell or white exhaust smoke
- Knocking or ticking from the engine
- Rough running or a loss of power
- Blue smoke at startup
Timing belts on schedule
Many engines use a timing belt with a replacement interval listed in the owner's manual. On some engines a broken belt causes serious internal damage, so replacing it on schedule costs far less than waiting. We look up your engine's interval and replace the water pump at the same time when it makes sense.
Overheating is urgent
If the temperature gauge climbs into the red, pull over and shut the engine off. Driving an overheating engine can warp the cylinder head and turn a hose or thermostat repair into a major one. Call us and we will help you plan the next step.
